Fraternal Order of Police, Chicago Lodge #7 Dean Angelo Sr. - The Release of CR Files dating back to 1967

The Release of CR Files

As some already may be aware, on September 28, 2016 the Illinois Supreme Court denied the Lodge's appeal of the Appellate Court's decision concerning the release of a list of CRs dating back to 1967; yes 1967!  Prior to this decision, the City could not release anyone's CR information that was more than 4 years old.  The underlying FOIA requests sought the release of any and all CR lists that existed at the time the FOIA request was made. Since two grievances pertaining to CR file destruction (one filed in 2010 and the other in 2011) were never advanced through the grievance and arbitration processes by previous Administrations; every CR that was on the list at the time of this particular FOIA request became "FOIA-able."

At this point the Lodge has exhausted all of our legal options on the injunction that we filed in October of 2014.  Even though the City sparred no time releasing the lists to the FOIA requesters; another aspect of the Lodge's lawsuit remains pending before Judge Flynn which deals with the assurance that an Officers' private information is not released, particularly as it relates to any allegation of off-duty conduct.  Furthermore, the Lodge will continue our efforts in Circuit Court to enforce Arbitrator Roumell's decision which ordered the destruction of CR files to begin once the DOJ investigation is completed.

As we have since our October 2014 filing, this Administration promises to continue to pursue all remedies to enforce the Collective Bargaining Agreement and to ensure that the City fully complies with its obligations under state law before releasing any further records.  As always, we will continue to keep the membership apprised.

Stay Safe & God Bless the Police.
President Dean C. Angelo, Sr.

What kind of records can they have from 1967. Everything was paper then and I'm sure not transferred to computers. All that info would take forever and they would have to have data entry operators transferring it

Why do they think CRs going back to 1967
should be made public?

Whew! We're safe, boys. By two years.
That time we got a private screening of
King Rat in 1965 is off limits!

Since it's creation, FOIA, has been useful in stifling progress. It has been used to destroy every government system it has touched and has robbed the good, honest, forward, and WORKING people of this country of their hard earned money through unfair taxes and laws levied to help supposed innocent people from being profiled. well I believe this experiment has shown that it has failed and failed miserably. I also think the FOP and other organizations should start FOIA=ing our Justice Department as well as the NAACP, BLM and any other radical organizations that are obviously part of a visible criminal conspiracy against the greater good of this great country. BLM my ASS! Only when and where they say it matters. Time to stop the BULLSHIT!

Our courts protect the criminals and forget about the public. They are so bent on equality there is no quality of life left in this country. Meanwhile our Government have security up the wazoo and have no idea of the mess they have allowed to become the United States of what a
f--king joke!
