Robbins Police Chief Johnny Holmes, arrested last month on a charge of driving under the influence, retired from his position last week, both Holmes and the village’s mayor confirmed Monday night.
Mayor Irene Brodie said Holmes decided to leave his position after his Dec. 22 arrest in Midlothian. Brodie said Holmes discussed his departure with village trustees and acknowledged he had a “problem,” though the mayor declined to elaborate.
Holmes, who was also arrested for DUI in 2010, said “Oh wow” when asked to undergo field sobriety tests in the most recent arrest according to police reports.
Holmes late Monday said he retired last Thursday after 33 years at the police department. He said he will miss the job, but hopes his recent troubles will fade from the limelight.

At this point just about all of the once-nice, safe and WHITE south suburbs need to be carpet bombed, then sprayed with Sarin just to be sure.
