PENSACOLA, FL - A Florida Panhandle man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for fatally shooting his half-brother because the television was too loud.
An Escambia County judge sentenced 43-year-old Michael Daly on Wednesday. He was convicted of murder in October. Prosecutors had been seeking a life sentence.
Authorities say Daly shot 19-year-old Thomas Jurkowich at their family's home in August 2009 after the younger brother refused to turn the volume down.
The Pensacola News Journal (http://on.pnj.com/VTrvqv ) reports that Daly's attorney argued during the trial that Daly was insane at the time of the shooting, pointing to the fact that he didn't try to hide his actions when he called 911.
