STAMFORD CT - Three male cross-dressers were charged with robbery and assault after pepper-spraying three men on Atlantic Street and stealing one of their cellphones, police said.

Casey Medley, 21, of 46 Stillwater Ave., Stamford; Christopher Schenck, 23, of Baltimore; and Ronald Brown, 23, of Baltimore; were charged with second-degree robbery and third-degree assault.

Capt. Tom Wuennemann (Pronounced: Want-a-man) said the six men were at the Elite Nightclub at 129 Atlantic St. when a disturbance broke out after someone realized a cellphone had been taken.

After a short time, three men emerged from the bar and began walking north on Atlantic Street. Medley, Schenck and Brown came up to the trio and began arguing with them around 12:20 a.m. Thursday.

One of the cross-dressing men then pulled out a pepper spray device and blasted the three in the face, Wuennemann said. While the three were incapacitated by the spray, either Medley, Severiano or Brown allegedly grabbed an iPhone from the trio, Wuennemann said.

The alleged victims called police and said they had just been robbed, offering a description that included one of the three robbers wearing fishnet stockings.

Medley, Brown and Schenck were found a short time later at Smith Street and Stillwater Avenue and positively identified, Wuennemann said. According to case files, Brown was found with the stolen phone.

The three were arraigned at state Superior Court in Stamford on Thursday. Medley was held in lieu of $10,000 bond while Schenck and Brown were held on $25,000 bonds.

They were scheduled to return to court on Feb. 4.
