NORWOOD, OH -
A Norwood Police officer is credited with saving a field trip for a group of elementary students.
Ofc. Matthew Evans responded to Sharpsburg school to investigating a report of theft of money from a classroom. The money was intended for a field trip and without it, the field trip was going to be canceled.
Evans took the information and left to make a report, but before he went back to the police station, he stopped by an ATM and withdrew the amount of money that was taken.
He then gave the money to his Lieutenant to give to the school.
"Officer Evans is an example of the great officers we have at the Norwood Police Department. He is also a demonstration of how we may not be able to make a difference in everyone's life but we can sure make a difference that counts," said department said in a statement on its Facebook page.
