Man shot while driving with his two adult sons on the 2800 Block of North Austin in Chicago

A 41-year-old man was shot in the Belmont Central neighborhood this morning while driving a sports utility vehicle with two of his sons inside, police said.

The shooting happened about 5:25 a.m., as the man was driving in the 2800 block of North Austin Avenue with his sons, ages 18 and 20, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said.

A black four-door vehicle pulled up next to them, and a passenger inside fired shots, striking the SUV driver in the upper left leg, Perez said, citing preliminary information. His sons were not injured.
