Canadian Trucker Gary Clarke slain during street robbery at Chicago's Englewood Red House
A Canadian truck driver in town visiting relatives was shot and killed during an apparent robbery attempt in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, authorities said.
Officers found Gary Clarke, 39, unresponsive inside a freight truck parked in a vacant lot in the 5800 block of South Aberdeen Street at about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, Chicago police said.
Clarke had been sitting inside the truck when he was approached by several men -- at least one of them armed with a handgun -- who demanded his money, police said.
